Since I had some left over leather from the baby ballerinas I made, I decided to make some mittens. I looked at a LOT of free mitten patterns available on the web before finding this one from the site Pitter Patter. The pattern was perfect for my needs. Not too complicated, but not too simple either. The origional pattern was for fleece and since I was working with leather with an inside lining, I modified the pattern to be much larger and wider. However, I didn’t line the thumb because it would have been too thick to turn. I added a third pattern piece which was the white furry cuffs meaning the inside lining was cut shorter than the outer leather base. I added a decorative braid at the opening and a gold woven jersey ribbon attachment.
